I know of the "death wave" as I had previously played the game and had a much bigger populations. I have also use the aging delay mod which delay aging to 1/16.

After the bodies are collected, you can empty the cemeteries into the crematoriums (Be sure to empty all the cemeteries at the same time, or they may just empty into an open cemetery). I downloaded Transfer Manager CE mod and it helped a lot without even touching it’s settings. Helped with my trash collection too.
